Commissioner Thomas Martin joined Clallam County Fire District No. 2 in 1968 at the Gales Addition Department. Tom, with the help of Commissioner William Doran and Commissioner Richard Ruud, helped create the Emergency Medical Service for Fire District No. 2 and he was the first Emergency Medical Technician for District No. 2. Tom saw the value of the Jaws of Life for extrication and composed grants that brought the first "Jaws" to the Olympic Peninsula. Tom's highest rank achieved with Fire District No. 2 was Chief of the Gales Addition Station and is now Commissioner.
