Chen-Rei Wan

Chen-rei (Cherry) Wan has extensive experience in engineering and scientific roles. Starting with Procter & Gamble in 2003 and 2004, they worked as a Product Research Engineer and Product Design Engineer, respectively, focusing on baby care products. Chen-rei (Cherry) then pursued their Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, conducting research on differentiating embryonic stem cells into cardiomyocytes. After completing their Ph.D. in 2010, they joined Smith & Nephew as a Scientist II and later became a Senior Scientist, leading projects and developing fixation devices for labral repair. In 2015, Chen-rei joined MiMedx as a Sr. Project Engineer, managing cross-functional teams and driving R&D efforts for the CollaFix platform technology. Chen-rei (Cherry) joined Clearside Biomedical, Inc. in 2018 and has held various roles, including Lead Engineer, Director of Engineering, and currently serving as the Sr. Director of Engineering. At Clearside Biomedical, they have led post-hoc analysis, driven training tool and product development, and gathered feedback from physicians. Overall, Chen-rei Wan has demonstrated expertise in engineering, research, and project management across multiple industries.

Chen-rei (Cherry) Wan has a strong educational background in engineering and science. Chen-rei (Cherry) obtained a Ph.D. in Biomechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) between 2007 and 2010. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at MIT from 2005 to 2007. Chen-rei (Cherry)'sundergraduate studies were conducted at Carnegie Mellon University from 2001 to 2005, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Economics. Chen-rei (Cherry)'shigh school education included attending San Domenico High School from 1999 to 2001 and Taipei First Girls' High School from 1998 to 1999.
