Jeff Escalante

Engineering Director at Clerk

Jeff Escalante has a diverse and impressive work experience. Jeff started their career as a Summer Research Intern at Tufts University in 2009. From 2009 to 2011, they worked at Hamilton College as a Career Center Tech AI, where they were responsible for creating and editing creative and informational media.

In 2011, Jeff joined Carrot - The VICE Digital Agency as a Dev Intern, and later became a Developer. Jeff contributed to a variety of projects and tools, transitioning from a Rails shop to building split API/client apps. Jeff also played a role in designing presentations and speaking about the company's process. Jeff then became the Lead Environment Developer, where they made technology choices and developed open source tooling.

In 2015, Jeff took a sabbatical to travel with their wife, but continued working as a contractor for Carrot for one day each week.

In 2018, Jeff joined HashiCorp as the Senior Manager of Marketing Technology. Jeff then became the Engineering Lead for the Web Platform, responsible for full stack development across the company's web properties. Jeff created and maintained a platform for the web properties and collaborated with team members, external contributors, and stakeholders.

In 2022, Jeff joined Vercel as an Engineering Director. Before joining, they had already been contributing to the project for several years and had formed great relationships with the team.

In 2023, Jeff is excited to start a new role as the Engineering Director at Clerk.com, where they will be involved in engineering, management, company leadership, and marketing.

Jeff Escalante attended Hamilton College from 2008 to 2012, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience. Prior to that, they attended Needham High School from 2004 to 2007. In October 2019, they also obtained a certification in Unconscious Bias from LinkedIn.
