Gill Armstrong

Senior Project Manager at ClimateWorks Australia

Gill works in Climateworks’ Cities team, leading research and policy projects to decarbonise Australia’s buildings sector, including residential and non-residential buildings, and both new and existing builds.

Her background spans more than 10 years’ experience as a registered architect (UK) and Chartered Architectural Technologist, specialising in adaptive reuse of residential and healthcare buildings. Gill is also research trained, earning her PhD in the adaptive reuse and regulation of vacant office buildings in Australian CBDs.

Gill is collaborating with researchers at University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to produce a Sustainable Temporary Adaptive Reuse (STAR) toolkit in a project funded by a City of Sydney Knowledge Exchange Grant (2022-2024).

She is also co-editor & contributor to the research publication, ‘Resilient Building Retrofits’ (2022).

Gill holds a PhD (2020) University of Adelaide; Part 1-3 Architecture (Manchester School of Architecture & De Montfort University, UK),and a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education (Sheffield Hallam University, UK).
