Ian Whittley has a work experience spanning over several years with various organizations. Ian started working as a Senior Research Associate at the University of East Anglia in 2005, where they focused on developing and evaluating machine learning algorithms for large data sets. Their work involved implementing techniques such as nearest neighbor ensembles, decision trees, support vector machines, logistic regression, neural nets, and genetic algorithms.
In 2007, Ian joined the University of the West of England as a Research Fellow, where they collaborated with UK Sports to analyze sports data using machine learning techniques. Ian worked on sports data mining and applied machine learning algorithms to gain insights into the data.
Since 2009, Ian has been working as a Principal Software Engineer at CliniSys. In this role, they have been the principal developer responsible for designing, implementing, and testing web-based solutions for the healthcare industry. Ian has expertise in working with the .NET framework and SQLServer backend. Ian has experience working with both waterfall and agile, test-driven development methodologies.
Ian Whittley received their education primarily at the University of East Anglia. Ian obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science from the University of East Anglia between 1993 and 1996. Following that, they pursued further studies and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science at the same institution, from 1996 to 2001. In addition to their formal education, Ian Whittley also obtained a certification in Microsoft Azure Fundamentals from Microsoft in October 2022.
