John Hanlon's work experience begins in 2005 as an Administrative Assistant at Allied Irish Banks. John then worked as a Graduate Surveyor at Colliers International from 2010 to 2012, where they managed occupiers and fixed charge receivership. From 2012 to 2014, they worked as a Surveyor and then as a Senior Surveyor at CBRE, managing occupiers and asset services. John then became an Associate Director and Asset Manager at CBRE from 2015 to 2017, managing occupiers and asset services. From 2017 to 2019, they took a career break and traveled in South America, obtaining a CELTA teaching qualification and teaching English in Colombia. In 2019, they joined Harcourt Developments as a Development Portfolio Manager and later became an Asset/Transaction Manager, Head of Leasing. From 2020 to 2022, they worked as a Web Application Creator at Proptrics, using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Ruby on Rails framework. Currently, they are working as a Software Engineer at Clio, a legal platform, writing software in Ruby and TypeScript, and using frameworks like Ruby on Rails, React, and AngularJS. Additionally, they are an open-source contributor to Flux_Official, where they write Flutter/Dart code for the FluxOS Dashboard.

John Hanlon has a diverse education history. In 1999, they obtained their Leaving Certificate with 460 points from St. Mary's College C.S.Sp. John then pursued a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Property Economics (Valuation Surveying) at Technological University Dublin from 2005 to 2009. Following this, from 2009 to 2010, they completed a Master of Science in Project Management at University College Dublin's Smurfit Business School. Most recently, in 2020, they attended the National College of Ireland, where they obtained a Higher Diploma in Science in Computing with a focus on Software Development.
