Engineering Manager at Clockwise

Abou Koné is an experienced engineering manager with a strong background in software development. Beginning in 2011, they worked as a Senior Application Developer at Salsa Labs, Inc. before moving on to Millennial Media in 2012, where they served as a Lead UI Engineer. At Millennial Media, Abou led UI development efforts on various applications using AngularJS, ExtJS, and Grails.

In 2014, Abou joined Coders4Africa Inc. as the VP of Engineering, where they led pan-African technical teams in delivering high-quality web and mobile app solutions. Abou also worked as a Front End Lead at IMMUNIO, where they architected and led development efforts on a usable and user-friendly AngularJS-based security dashboard.

In 2016, Abou took on the role of Senior Software Engineer at DDC, leading mobile and hybrid mobile application development using Angular2 and Phonegap/Cordova. Abou also worked on mobile web development and supported platform testing efforts.

From 2015 to 2020, Abou co-founded and worked at KidKoders, a non-profit organization focused on introducing kids to coding through games and guest speakers.

At AKIL TECHNOLOGIES, where Abou served as the CTO from 2016 to 2021, they played a key role in developing modern applications and products for the accounting and finance industry. Abou oversaw system design and changes in system architecture, managed an agile technical team, and identified and implemented new areas of opportunities.

Abou then joined IDDataWeb in 2017 as the Manager, Front End. In this role, they planned and directed the work of the team, developed and supported applications using Angular/React and NestJS, and contributed to the establishment of development standards and practices. Abou also mentored and grew developers while maintaining rigorous engineering standards across the team.

Most recently, Abou joined ShopRunner in 2021 as an Engineering Manager before moving to their current role as an Engineering Manager at Clockwise in 2022. At both companies, they led teams, collaborated with product managers and designers, set technical direction, and improved engineering processes and practices. Abou also focused on driving product adoption, customer growth, retention, and engagement while ensuring the growth and hiring of their engineering squad members.

Abou Koné obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from California State University, Bakersfield, between the years 1999 and 2003. Later, from 2011 to 2013, they pursued a Masters of Science degree in Information Systems from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Additionally, in November 2018, Abou Koné obtained a certification as an AWS Certified Developer - Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
