Richard Barlow

Richard Barlow has over 20 years of experience in the legal and financial services industry. Richard is currently the Head of Bank Legal - Projects at Close Brothers, a position they have held since May 2023. Prior to this, they were the Interim Head of Bank Legal - Retail at Close Brothers from April 2022 to May 2023.

Before joining Close Brothers, Richard held various interim and leadership roles at FNZ Group, Chetwood Financial Limited, and Barlow Consulting, where they specialized in legal and regulatory risk in retail financial services. Richard also served as the CEO of Barlow Consulting from January 2021 to May 2021.

Richard has held senior legal positions at prominent financial institutions such as Monzo Bank, Domestic and General Group, and The Co-operative Bank plc. Richard has also worked as a Director at Promontory Financial Group, LLC. Richard began their career at Barclays Bank PLC, where they held several roles, including Head of Policy and Governance UK RBB Credit Risk and Head of Legal UK Retail Banking.

Throughout their career, Richard has demonstrated expertise in legal counsel, regulatory compliance, and risk management in the financial industry.

Richard Barlow attended Bradford Grammar School from 1977 to 1983. Richard then pursued higher education at The University of Manchester from 1983 to 1986, where they obtained an LLB (Hons) degree in Law.
