Masrur Mahmood has worked in various roles in the software engineering and IT industry since 2004. Masrur began their career as a Network Engineer at Dofasco Inc. in 2004, where they developed an Active Directory repair tool and an Exchange Mailbox management plug-in for Active Directory. In 2005, they moved to Research In Motion as a Wireless Protocol Specialist. From 2008 to 2012, Masrur worked as a Real-time Systems Engineer at Thales Railway Signalling Solutions Inc., designing real-time automatic train control software. From 2012 to 2013, they worked as a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Smiths Detection, developing firmware and Linux kernel. From 2013 to 2015, they were a Development Manager and Technical Architect at LABORIE. From 2020 to 2022, they were a Sr. Engineering Manager at Splunk, and is currently the Director of Software Engineering at Cloud DX.
Masrur Mahmood obtained a B. Engineering degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from McMaster University between 2002 and 2007. In 2017, they obtained a P. Eng. certification from Professional Engineers Ontario. In 2019, they obtained a Machine Learning certification from Coursera. In 2020, they obtained two Microservices certifications from LinkedIn: Asynchronous Messaging and Design Patterns. Masrur also holds a Professional Engineer certification from Professional Engineers Ontario.
