Dan Oldfield

Dan Oldfield has over 20 years of work experience, with their most recent role being the Head of IT at CMS Distribution since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Howells as a Consultant, initially providing guidance on transforming their aging Citrix/Server2008 environment and later covering the IT Security Manager role. Dan achieved the migration of all on-premises servers to the cloud, mainly using PaaS with Microsoft 365 as the core.

Before their role at Howells, Dan served as the IT Director at YorkTest Laboratories from 2014 to 2022. During their tenure, they were responsible for the strategy, development, and delivery of IT to support the business goals, managing a team of four. Dan also handled infrastructure management, including Microsoft servers, Office 365, Cisco Meraki Firewall/switches, and Veeam Backup, among others. Additionally, Dan oversaw internal development projects and ensured compliance with security policies and safeguards such as PCI DSS v3.

Prior to this, Dan held various roles at YorkTest Laboratories, including Associate Director of Information Management and ICT Manager. In these roles, they implemented improvements to the company's IT systems, developed card payment and appointment systems, and migrated from older server versions.

Dan also gained experience at Hewlett-Packard, IBIS Business Consultants, BT, and ABB, where they held roles in support, consultancy, and configuration management, respectively.

Dan Oldfield obtained a BEng degree in Computer Science from the University of York, where they studied from 1996 to 2000. Dan also holds several certifications, including PRINCE2 Practitioner from AXELOS Global Best Practice (obtained in 2015), MCSA: Windows Server 2008 from Microsoft (obtained in 2012), ISEB Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT (obtained in 2010), and MCSA: Microsoft Windows 2003 from Microsoft (obtained in 2005).
