Denise Contis

EVP & Head, Content, CNBC Primetime at CNBC

Denise Contis is Executive Vice President and Head of Content for CNBC Primetime. She is responsible for CNBC’s primetime content, production, and development. Contis joined the network in September 2019.

Prior to joining CNBC, Contis served as Senior Executive Vice President Development and Production for Discovery Channel where she oversaw all live content and new and returning series, 500 plus hours of programming, including such hits as the “Gold Rush” franchise, “Deadliest Catch,” “Fast N’ Loud,” “Alaskan Bush People,” “Alaska the Last Frontier,” “Bering Sea Gold,” and the Emmy-nominated “Naked and Afraid” franchise which generated record ratings for the network. Contis was also an executive producer with Robert Redford on the Emmy nominated documentary, “All the Presidents Men: Revisited.”

Contis first joined Discovery Communications in 2008 as Vice President, Production and Development, West Coast for TLC where she developed and oversaw Sarah Palin’s Alaska, which was the most-watched show in the network’s history.

Prior to Discovery Communications, Contis served as Senior Vice President of Programming for A. Smith and Company, launched her own media company TUK Media, and was a programming consultant for Lifetime as well as CBS.

Contis is a four-time Emmy nominee, a recipient of a Gracie Award from the Alliance for Women in Media and recognized by Cablefax as one of the most powerful women in cable.

Contis holds a bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount University and lives in Pacific Palisades, CA with her husband and son.
