Mark Starbuck

Director of Customer Support at The Cobalt Company

Mark Starbuck has extensive work experience in various technical and managerial roles. Mark is currently the Director of Customer Support at The Cobalt Company since April 2021.

Prior to this, Mark worked at MicroStrategy from 2017 to 2021 as the Senior Director of Cloud Systems Engineering. In this role, they were responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and managing multiple teams across three continents. Mark led the design, deployment, and support of the cloud platform as a service, managing architecture updates, cloud migrations, and security protection. Mark collaborated with security and engineering teams to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities using AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud products.

Before MicroStrategy, Mark served as the President of Long Branch Creek Civic Association from 2018 to 2019. Mark worked closely with Arlington County and the Arlington County Civic Federation to serve the Long Branch Creek community.

Mark also had previous experience at Netuitive as the Senior Platform Support Engineer and Technical Account Manager from 2015 to 2017. Mark supported customers through the entire product life cycle and trained and mentored new engineers in the platform. Mark also provided maintenance and technical support for legacy monitoring products.

Prior to Netuitive, Mark worked at MicroStrategy from 2011 to 2015. Mark started as a front-line engineer and quickly advanced to become the Premium Support Lead. In this role, Mark managed all technical client account interactions and provided daily technical and managerial expertise to a team of 10 engineers.

Before joining MicroStrategy, Mark worked at Virginia Tech from 2008 to 2010. Mark held multiple roles, including 4HELP Consultant, Get Connected Lead, and Summer Programs. Mark provided technical support to students on email, networking, and software issues. Mark also developed training programs for incoming students and recruited and hired technicians to address connectivity issues in student housing.

Mark's earlier experience includes working as a Consultant at Sean McClanahan Consulting from 2004 to 2005, and as a Technical Support Representative at VisualLink Telecommunications, Inc from 2002 to 2003.

Mark Starbuck obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Virginia Tech in 2010. In 2011, they obtained multiple certifications including MicroStrategy Certified Developer - Platinum, MicroStrategy Certified Engineer, MicroStrategy Certified Platform Administrator, MicroStrategy Certified Project Designer, and MicroStrategy Certified Report & Document Developer. Additionally, in 2021, they obtained the Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate certification from Microsoft.
