Alex Lunev

Alex Lunev is a seasoned engineering leader with extensive experience in the financial technology sector. Currently serving as Senior Director of Engineering at Cockroach Labs since May 2020, Alex leads Database Engineering. Previously, Alex was a Senior Director of Engineering at Varo Money Inc., where oversight involved one of the first digital-only challenger banks approved for a national bank charter. Alex's experience also includes roles at Square as Engineering Manager for the Payment Platform and Settlement, and at BlackRock, where responsibilities included managing engineering teams and developing a SaaS platform for order management. Early career experience includes positions at JPMorgan as an analyst and several roles at BlackRock, culminating in a Director position. Alex holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from New York University.
