Sandra Fay-Richard

Sandra Fay-Richard has over ten years of experience in intellectual property and legal roles in the biopharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Currently, they serve as the Vice President and Chief IP Counsel at Codiak BioSciences, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company specializing in exosome-based therapeutics. Prior to this, they were the Senior Director of Legal IP at Codiak.

Before joining Codiak, Sandra worked as the Senior Director of Intellectual Property at BlueRock Therapeutics. Sandra also held the position of Director of IP at Surface Oncology Inc., where they were responsible for intellectual property management. Sandra gained further experience as the Director of IP and Corporate Counsel at Torque Therapeutics, Inc. and Intelligent Medical Devices.

Earlier in their career, Sandra worked as an Attorney at Furman Gregory Deptula and as the Intellectual Property and Contracts Counsel at Idera Pharmaceuticals. Sandra started their professional journey as an Associate Director of IP at Merrimack Pharmaceuticals.

Sandra's expertise in intellectual property and legal matters has been consistently demonstrated throughout their career as they have held various leadership roles in this field.

Sandra Fay-Richard has a strong education background in science-based industries and the field of law. In 1987, they received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Boston University. Sandra went on to pursue further studies and obtained a Master of Science degree in Biology from UMass Boston in 1995. In 2000, Sandra enrolled in Suffolk University Law School and successfully completed their Juris Doctor (JD) degree in Intellectual Property (IP) in 2004. Sandra also attended Lund University in 2001 to study International IP & Business Law. Additionally, in 2008, they attended the Harvard Executive Education program to enhance their understanding of leading science-based industries.
