Hanefi Mercan

Hanefi Mercan has a diverse background in the field of data engineering and research. Hanefi started their career at Sabancı University as a Research & Teaching Assistant, where they not only assisted in teaching various courses but also conducted research on Software Testing and published multiple papers. Hanefi then joined Turk Telekom, where they served as a Data Engineer. During their time there, they designed, built, and maintained scalable data analytics pipelines using Apache Airflow and Elasticsearch. Hanefi also developed a configuration management system using YAML and implemented full CI/CD pipelines. Currently, Hanefi is working as a Data Engineer at Cognira.

Hanefi Mercan completed their Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering at Sabanci University from 2015 to 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science & Engineering from the same university from 2012 to 2014. Hanefi also holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Fatih University, where they studied from 2007 to 2012.

In addition to their formal education, Hanefi has obtained certifications in the field of data analysis. Hanefi completed the "Build and Optimize Data Warehouses with BigQuery" certification from Google in January 2023. Hanefi also completed "The Complete Google BigQuery Masterclass: Beginner to Expert" certification from Udemy in the same month and year.
