Nikola Vasiljevic

Nikola Vasiljevic has had extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Nikola is currently working at Cognite as a Principle Knowledge and Data Engineer since December 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Data Engineer at the same company from November 2021 to December 2022. Nikola also worked as an Ambassador at RDA Europe - the European plug-in to the Research Data Alliance from February 2019 to February 2022. Additionally, they founded the FAIR Data Collective in November 2020 and served as its Founder until November 2021. Before that, they worked at DTU Wind Energy, where they held multiple roles including Special Consultant for Digitalization from January 2020 to November 2021, Senior Researcher from November 2019 to January 2020, Researcher from November 2016 to November 2019, Postdoc from November 2014 to November 2016, Development Engineer from June 2013 to November 2014, and PhD Employee from June 2010 to June 2013. Nikola started their career as a System Engineer at Electric Power Industry of Serbia from August 2008 to June 2010.

Nikola Vasiljevic pursued their education in a variety of fields, primarily focusing on mechatronics, optics, opto-mechatronics, and wind energy. Nikola started their educational journey at the University of Belgrade, School of Electrical Engineering, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from 2002 to 2008. Following this, they continued their studies at the same institution and received a Master's degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from 2008 to 2009.

Nikola further expanded their academic background by pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Mechatronics, Coherent Lidars, and Wind Energy at DTU - Technical University of Denmark between 2010 and 2014. During this time, they also completed a certification in WAsP Engineering from DTU Wind Energy in October 2010.

In 2013, Nikola enrolled in DSPE / Mechatronics Academy and successfully obtained a Certified Precision Engineer qualification, specializing in Mechatronics, Optics, and Opto-mechatronics, which they completed in 2018.

To complement their education, Nikola has also obtained several additional certifications throughout their career. These include "Advance Motion Control," "Dynamics and Modelling," "Opto-Mechatronics," and "Motion Control Tuning" from the Dutch Society for Precision Engineering, all achieved in 2013 and 2014. Nikola also earned certificates in "FAIR DATA STEWARDSHIP" from the GO FAIR initiative in November 2019 and "Metadata For Machines (M4M)" in July 2020 from the same institution. In August 2021, they received a certificate titled "Welcome to Cognite" from Cognite. Moreover, in November 2021, Nikola completed the "CDF Basics Completion Certificate" and "Working with CDF Basics Completion Certificate" from the Cognite Academy. Nikola'smost recent certification is the "Advanced AI: Transformers for NLP using Large Language Models" from LinkedIn, obtained in February 2023.
