Aroon Karuna

Aroon Karuna is a patent attorney at Cognition IP. Drawing on 12+ years of patent experience, Aroon crafts IP strategies and builds patent portfolios for a variety of startups and established tech companies. His past clients have included Apple, Coinbase, and Salesforce. Prior to Cognition IP, Aroon was a patent attorney at boutique IP firms Schox and Weaver Austin Villeneueve & Sampson. He has also served as Intellectual Property Counsel at GE Healthcare and Wolfram Research.

In his career, Aroon has prepared and prosecuted patent applications covering a broad range of fields, including web technologies, blockchain, cryptocurrency, AI, machine learning, computer vision, autonomous vehicles, AR/VR/MR, robotics, database management, customer relationship management, social media and advertising, streaming media, music production, medical devices, wearables, mobile technology, networking, and digital security.

Aroon received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review, and a B.S. in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is licensed to practice in California, Illinois, and before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
