Michael Heroux is a Senior Scientist at Sandia National Laboratories, where since May 1998, research efforts have focused on parallel scientific and engineering computing, including leadership roles in projects like Trilinos and Mantevo. In addition, Michael has been a Scientist in Residence at Saint John's University since August 1998, teaching Computer Science and Mathematics while engaging in research collaboration. As Director of Software Technologies for the US DOE Exascale Computing Project from October 2017 to June 2024, strategic direction and integration of the software stack for exascale platforms were prioritized. Previous experience includes roles as a Scientific Applications Specialist at Silicon Graphics, Inc. and Cray Research. Michael holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Colorado State University and multiple degrees in Mathematics from Saint John's University.
