Baz Abouelenein

Baz Abouelenein, Ph.D., PMP, CRISC, CISM has extensive work experience in the field of information technology and security. Baz currently serves as the Director of IT Solutions Architecture at Collegis Education since May 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Vice President of Information Technology and CIO at Grantham University from April 2018 to June 2021, where they provided visionary technical leadership across all aspects of information technology and security.

Before joining Grantham University, Baz Abouelenein served at Kansas City Kansas Community College in various roles. Baz was the Chief Information Officer, leading network operations, information security, and infrastructure growth. Baz also held the position of Director of Information Systems, overseeing critical networking and help desk functions.

Earlier in their career, Baz Abouelenein worked as the Director of Information Systems at Community Action Partnership, managing all IT operations and providing recommendations on emerging technologies. Baz also worked as a Senior Systems Administrator at Integrated Solutions, where they supervised a team in supporting a large system and setting up infrastructure for satellite-based internet delivery. Baz began their career as a Technical Support Engineer at St@rNet.

Baz Abouelenein, Ph.D., PMP, CRISC, CISM has a comprehensive education history. In 2020-2021, they earned their Chief Information Officer (CIO) Executive Certificate in the field of Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University - Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy. Prior to that, in 2019-2020, they completed the CISO Executive Program at the same institution, focusing on Cyber Security, Resilience, Insider Threats, and Risk. Abouelenein also holds a Doctor of Management degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix, obtained in 2012. In 2007, they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of Phoenix. Lastly, in 1997, they obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Systems from the City University of Seattle.

In addition to their academic achievements, Abouelenein holds several certifications. Baz is certified as a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) by ISACA since 2019. Baz also obtained the Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control™ (CRISC) certification from ISACA in 2017. Furthermore, they hold the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute since 2009.
