Job description

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

The Compensation Specialist works closely with the Director of Human Resources and Leadership to assist in the hiring of the best candidates by providing salary recommendations/quotes utilizing established by CCH compensation practices, such as reviewing position descriptions and credentialing requirements to provide tactical and technical support in the delivery of Total Rewards to our employees.

  • Assists on a variety of projects, including market pricing, job analysis, and data review for the implementation of new programs.
  • Makes salary recommendations/quotes for new hires and current employees transitioning into new positions based on pertinent research and the consistent application of criteria.
  • Assures integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of the Master Compensation Workbook and associated SharePoint Compensation spreadsheet. Collaborates with Dayforce Team to add, update, or end position titles in Dayforce to maintain data integrity and alignment with the Master Compensation Workbook.
  • Works closely with the Compensation Specialist and the Director of Human Resources on compensation analyses and evaluations for current, new or revised positions as directed.
  • Works closely with managers to evaluate current, new or revised job descriptions to determine details such as classification and salary, and ensure job descriptions are aligned with the market for accurate external benchmarking.
  • Makes recommendations on the status, description, classification, and salary ranges of all jobs.
  • Assists in the resolution of job classification and salary complaints/disputes and employee relations matters as they relate to compensation.
  • Provides advice, coordination, training, and support in the effective and consistent application of the Coalition’s compensation practices.
  • Assists in the development and documentation of policies & procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Works with leaders to ensure the department is meeting the needs of managers and employees while focusing on future growth and success of the organization.
  • Attends meetings as requested, serving as a specialized knowledge resource in key areas of compensation and point of contact for general questions related to CCH’s compensation practices.
  • Assists Director of Human Resources in the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of HR Metrics & Analytics Dashboards.
  • Regularly and accurately collects and analyzes complex data, reports finding to leadership; maintains up-to-date compensation dashboard data.
  • Researches different areas involving compensation, including compensation statistics and competitive compensation practices in the job market.
  • Works with HRIS and other Data team members to ensure that the Dayforce system (a Ceridian product) and other relevant platforms meet compensation needs and are updated to reflect changes to job setup, salary structures, performance programs, etc.
  • Awareness of changing federal and state compensation laws and regulations, as well as the shifting needs of the organization’s workforce.
  • May establish relationships with applicable vendors and monitors spend to ensure maximization of return on investment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications Summary 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field preferred. Experience may substitute for degree.
  • Experience in the analysis and/or administration of compensation programs.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other Bigdata analytics platforms.
