Callie Slaughter

Callie Slaughter is a PhD candidate researcher at Colorado State University since August 2021, with a background in both laboratory technology and various research roles. Previous positions include serving as an NGS Laboratory Technologist at Invitae and an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Colorado State University, where Callie focused on DNA extractions, antibiotic resistance detection in livestock, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis research. Callie's research experience also encompasses an Undergraduate Research Intern role that involved the application of ultraviolet-light-mediated cell inactivation technology and transcriptome analysis in tumor cells. In addition, Callie completed a research fellowship with the National Science Foundation, focusing on catalytic chemistry and novel pharmaceutical compounds. Callie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology from Colorado State University and an Associate of Science degree from Front Range Community College. Prior to academic pursuits, Callie worked as a bartender at Torchy's Tacos.
