Kayna Hobbs-Murphy

Kayna Hobbs-Murphy, Ph.D., currently serves as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Apparel Design and Production in the Design and Merchandising Department at Colorado State University since August 2023. Previous experience includes positions as a graduate research assistant funded by NIOSH MAP-ERC and NSF at Colorado State University from 2018 to 2023, as well as an internship with the US Army's Applied Ergonomics Team in 2021-2022. Earlier roles include Associate Ready to Wear Patternmaker and various internships at J. Mendel and Tara La Tour, focusing on pattern development and garment modifications. Kayna also has academic experience as a Teacher’s Assistant for an Apparel Assembly course at the University of Minnesota. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Environmental Health with a specialization in Occupational Ergonomics and an MS in Fashion/Apparel Design from Colorado State University, along with a BASc in Apparel Design and Retail Merchandising from the University of Minnesota.
