Maria Colell has extensive work experience in translation and localization. Maria began their career as a Video Games Translator at Pinknoise - Globalizing Fun in 2006. Maria then worked as a Spanish Translator at Cecabank from 2007 to 2012. Maria later joined Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University as a Spanish Translator and eventually freelanced for the university as a Freelance Spanish Translator. In 2016, they began working as a Translator and Localization Specialist as a freelancer, a role they held until 2019. From 2019 to 2023, Maria worked at Diet Doctor as a Content Manager and later as a Team Leader. Currently, they are a Program Manager at Combient Mix.
Maria Colell has a diverse education history. Maria completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Translation and Interpreting at Universitat Pompeu Fabra from 2001 to 2005. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's degree in Legal and Financial Translation at Institut catholique de Paris from 2006 to 2007. In 2011, Maria enrolled at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and obtained a Master's degree in Literary Studies with a focus on Comparative Literature in 2012.
Maria also completed a Diploma in Audiovisual Translation at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from 2006 to 2007. Maria expanded their horizons by studying abroad at the University of Stuttgart in 2004 and the University of Queensland in 2003, where they pursued coursework related to Translation, Linguistics, German, and English.
Furthermore, Maria holds a certification in Swedish from Stockholm University, which they obtained in 2024. Additionally, they have a Sworn Translator Certificate in English <> Spanish, which they acquired from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in April 2008.
