Raazesh Sainudiin

Raazesh Sainudiin has a diverse work experience in various industries and academic institutions. In 2014, they worked as a Consultant for the Wynyard Group, where they developed prototypes for data-structures and algorithms for predictive policing. Raazesh then became an Intelligent Systems Specialist and later a Principal Data Scientist at the same company in 2015.

Starting from 2016, Raazesh co-founded VakeWorks and served as the Chief Analytics Officer until 2017. In the same year, they joined Uppsala University as a Researcher in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. Raazesh held this position until 2018 and was involved in a study on docentship and specializations in Data Science.

In 2019, Raazesh took on multiple roles simultaneously. Raazesh became an Associate Professor of Mathematics with specialization in Data Science at Uppsala University and an AI Graduate School Instructor at WASP. Raazesh also worked for Combient as a Consulting Principal Data Scientist and Founding Coordinator of the Combient Competence Centre for Data Engineering Sciences at Uppsala University. Furthermore, they co-founded webintrinsics.io and served as the Chief Analytics Officer until 2017.

Raazesh continued their academic career at the University of Canterbury in 2007, initially as a Lecturer in Statistics and later as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Maths and Stats. During their time there, they lectured undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervised PhD and MSc students. Raazesh worked at the university until 2016.

In 2020, Raazesh joined Combient Mix as the Director of Technical Strategy & Research and later became the Researching, Developing & Enabling Chair of Mathematical Data Engineering Sciences. Raazesh currently holds the position of Senior Researcher, Data Science. Raazesh also serves as an Advisor for Mathematical Data Engineering Sciences at Sensmetry since 2021.

Raazesh Sainudiin completed a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Biology (double major) at Minnesota State University, Mankato from 1996 to 2000. Raazesh then pursued their Master's Degree in Biometrics at Cornell University from 2001 to 2003. Following this, Raazesh obtained their PhD in Statistics from Cornell University, with a focus on Biometrics, from 2003 to 2005. Raazesh later achieved the title of Docent in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Uppsala University, a position that they currently hold, starting at an unknown year and continuing until 2022.

In addition to their formal education, Raazesh Sainudiin has also obtained several certifications. Raazesh received a Big Data XSeries certification from edX in August 2015. Raazesh also earned an edX Verified Certificate for Scalable Machine Learning and an edX Verified Certificate for Introduction to Big Data with Apache Spark, both from edX, in July and August 2015 respectively.
