Martin Horrocks GAICD has over 20 years of work experience in various roles within the health and safety sector. Martin is currently the Director of Mental Health and Research at Comcare, a role they have held since August 2021. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Education and Engagement at Comcare for five years, where they led outreach programs and workplace health campaigns.
Before joining Comcare, Martin worked at Workplace Health and Safety Queensland for three years. Martin held the position of Manager, Workplace Assistance, where they developed and delivered state-wide programs to help businesses manage health and safety. Martin also served as the Manager of the Injury Prevention and Management Program (IPaM) at Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, focusing on developing strategies to decrease workplace incidents and strengthen injury management systems.
Martin also has experience at WorkSafe Victoria, where they held managerial roles. Martin served as the Manager of Health Relationships/Health Programs, overseeing the development of strategies and providing technical support. Martin was also involved in the WorkHealth program, aimed at reducing chronic disease among the working population.
Additionally, Martin has worked at the Department of Human Services, where they served as a Capacity Building Project Manager. Martin also gained experience in the event management sector as the Assistant Manager of Venue Operations for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Throughout their career, Martin has demonstrated expertise in health promotion, policy development, and stakeholder engagement. Martin has led teams and implemented initiatives focused on workplace health and safety, injury prevention, and mental health.
Martin Horrocks GAICD completed their Bachelor of Applied Science in Sports Management from Federation University Australia between 1989 and 1991. Martin then pursued a Master of Public Health with a focus on Environmental Health & Health Management at QUT (Queensland University of Technology) from 1995 to 1996. In 1999 and 2000, they attended La Trobe University to obtain a Master of Health Science in Public Health Practice. In 2023, they completed a program in Company Directorship at the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
