Douglas Hoon

CTO at Cometeer

Douglas Hoon has an extensive work experience spanning several companies and industries. Douglas started their career in 1982 as a Partner and VP for Engineering and Manufacturing at Advanced Composite Products, Inc. During their time there, the company experienced significant growth and secured major contracts.

In 1988, Hoon worked as a Manufacturing Engineer at Zygo Corporation before joining Dow-United Technologies Composite Products in 1990. At Dow-United Technologies, they held various roles, including Director of CT Operations and Product Development Manager. Douglas contributed to the development of a high-performance Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) process, resulting in the production of structurally flawless parts.

After this, Hoon joined Zygo Corporation again in 1996, this time in a Director role. Douglas led the design and development of a manufacturing facility for the production of meter-class plano optics for the National Ignition Facility. Additionally, they oversaw the creation of a process for producing ultra-high fluence fused silica optics.

From 2008 to 2015, Hoon worked as a Managing Director at GEN3 Partners, an early-stage product and process development firm. Douglas'sresponsibilities included building client relationships, leading teams, and ensuring high-quality work.

In 2015, Hoon joined COMETEER as the CTO. The company developed a patented cryogenically preserved coffee capsule and extraction system, aiming to revolutionize the coffee industry.

Throughout their career, Hoon demonstrated expertise in product development, manufacturing, and team leadership across various industries.

Douglas Hoon has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Additionally, they have pursued a Master's degree in Civil, Mechanical, and Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
