Joe Pitman

Joe Pitman, CPA has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Joe is currently the Director Of Accounting and Finance at Comma Insurance, where they lead the accounting and finance operations for a nationwide insurance brokerage services start-up. Joe has successfully implemented innovative strategies to scale up financial processes and regularly advises senior management on performance and strategy.

Prior to their current role, Joe worked at HoganTaylor LLP as an Assurance Senior, where they provided assurance and financial reporting services for clients in the non-profit and energy sectors. Joe also served as the in-charge on various engagements and directed audit teams.

Before joining HoganTaylor LLP, Joe gained experience at Bourgeois Bennett, CPAs and Consultants as a Staff Auditor and Audit Intern. During their internship, they worked part-time and gained valuable auditing skills.

Joe also has a background in non-profit work. Joe worked at Bridge House/Grace House, a substance abuse treatment facility, in various roles including Events and Outreach Director, Development Officer, and Assistant Income Development Director. In these positions, they managed fundraising events, coordinated marketing materials, and wrote grants.

Additionally, Joe worked as a Project Coordinator at HandsOn New Orleans, where they engaged corporate volunteer groups in service projects, and as an Outreach Coordinator at Global Green, where they supported sustainable rebuilding efforts in New Orleans.

Joe's early career also includes an internship at Upward Bound, where they provided support to high school students preparing for college, and a customer service associate role at Bluestem Farm And Ranch Supply Inc.

Finally, Joe started their career as an Interviewer at On-Line Communications, a marketing research firm, where they conducted telephone surveys and held a leadership role on the Retention Team.

Throughout their career, Joe Pitman, CPA has demonstrated their expertise in accounting, financial reporting, auditing, and non-profit management.

Joe Pitman, CPA holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Sociology and History from Tulane University, completed in 2008. Joe then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of New Orleans, completed in 2014. Subsequently, they enrolled in the Pre-CPA Program at the University of New Orleans, concluding in 2016. Joe Pitman obtained their Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification from the State Board of Certified Public Accountants of Louisiana in 2017 and the Oklahoma Accountancy Board in 2018.
