Liz Popwell

Liz Popwell, FACHE, PMP, serves as the System Vice President of Strategy and International at CommonSpirit Health since September 2024. Prior to this role, Popwell was the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at Stony Brook Medicine, where responsibilities included leading strategic planning and business development efforts. Previous positions held include Chief Strategy Officer at Ascension, where Popwell managed a $4.5 billion Michigan market; Vice President of Strategy Executive and Assistant Vice President at Atrium Health, focusing on strategy development and project management; and Chief Ancillary Executive and Safety Officer at Carolinas HealthCare System, overseeing substantial budgets and numerous support service departments. Earlier experience includes roles at CaroMont Healthcare, Premier, Inc., and MECON, demonstrating expertise in performance improvement, accreditation processes, and client services. Popwell holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Saint Louis University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Illinois State University.
