Debra Poskanzer

Utilization Review Medical Director at Commonwealth Care Alliance

Debra Poskanzer, MD, has an extensive work experience spanning several organizations in the healthcare industry. In 1992, they started their career as a Physician at New England Rehabilitation Hospital, where they worked until 2005. From 1996 to 2005, they served as a Utilization Review Physician at Tufts Health Plan. In 2005, they became the Medical Director for Quality at Tufts Health Plan until 2007. Debra then joined Massachusetts Health Quality Partners as a Board Member from 2006 to 2014.

In 2009, Dr. Poskanzer returned to Tufts Health Plan and held various roles, including Director of CQI and Medical Affairs and Senior Medical Director until 2014. From 2014 to 2019, they served as the Vice President of Medical Management and Quality. Debra also held the position of Senior Medical Director, Quality and Medical Affairs from 2019 to 2021.

Additionally, Dr. Poskanzer worked as a Medical Advisor at Utilize Health from 2019 to 2021, and as a Trustee at Hebrew SeniorLife since 2017. In 2021, they took on the role of Utilization Review Medical Director at Commonwealth Care Alliance. Furthermore, they currently serve as a Volunteer-Member of the Board of Advisors at The Greater Boston Food Bank, starting in September 2021.

Debra Poskanzer, MD, attended Albany High School from 1975 to 1979. Debra then earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Union College from 1979 to 1983. Debra went on to obtain their MD degree from Albany Medical College from 1983 to 1987. Finally, they pursued further education in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Tufts University School of Medicine from 1988 to 1991.
