Nicholas Burica serves as Principal of Grid Planning in Professional and Advisory Services at Kevala since July 2024, following a long tenure at ComEd starting in March 2006. At ComEd, Nicholas has held multiple principal roles, including Principal Regulatory Specialist, where leadership of the discovery process for the Multi-Year Rate Plan and Grid Plan was a key responsibility. Nicholas managed initiatives related to renewable energy, including the Renewable Energy Advanced Control and Telemetry Systems (REACTS) strategy and the IIJA Middle Mile Grant application. Extensive experience in project management and engineering encompasses analysis of hosting capacity, algorithm design for Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), and involvement in various cross-departmental projects. Educational qualifications include pursuing an MBA from Gies College of Business and a Master of Science in Energy & Environmental Management from the University of Connecticut, supplemented by a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
