Peter Matthews

Peter Matthews is a highly experienced engineering professional with a robust background in system engineering and advanced product development. Currently serving as a Senior System Engineer at Commonwealth Fusion Systems since June 2020, Peter is responsible for the design, procurement, and commissioning of the ICRF Plant for SPARC. Prior to this role, Peter held the position of CTO and EVP of Sales at Mega Industries, LLC from January 2007 to June 2020, where efforts were focused on advanced product development and integrating engineering expertise into operations. Peter also served as CEO at Mega Industries, achieving significant advancements in engineering and manufacturing techniques. Earlier experience includes serving as the Director of Engineering at Shively Labs and as an RF Design Engineer at Gabriel Electronics, Inc. Peter holds a Ph.D. in Plasma and High-Temperature Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master of Science in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a Bachelor of Science in the same field from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
