Chief Programs And Engagement Officer at Communities Foundation of Texas

Reo Pruiett has a diverse and extensive work experience. They have held various roles in different organizations. Reo started their career in 1984 at Shelby County Schools, where they served as a teacher, science supervisor, vice principal, middle school principal, and director of secondary education. In this last position, they supervised 25 middle and high school principals and oversaw all academic areas, including Special Education and Career & Technical Education.

After their successful tenure at Shelby County Schools, Reo joined the Texas High School Project at Communities Foundation of Texas in 2008 as a Program Officer. Here, they built a statewide network to promote STEM education and provide support to first-generation and underrepresented students. They also developed systems to facilitate partnership development and experiential learning.

Reo then transitioned to a new role within Communities Foundation of Texas in 2012, joining Educate Texas as the Director of Programs. In this position, they focused on implementing STEM education in grades 6-12 and establishing engagement with business/industry and higher education. They later became the Senior Director of Programs, where their responsibilities included overseeing College and Career Readiness for Early College High Schools, STEM, and PTECH campus models. They also played a significant role in creating a district-wide approach for STEM implementation and facilitating collaboration between various stakeholders to transform the educational experiences of all students.

Lastly, in 2022, Reo assumed the position of Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer at Communities Foundation of Texas, demonstrating their commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity within the organization.

Reo Pruiett earned a Doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Union University, where they attended from 2002 to 2005.
