Rachel Watson is an experienced social worker with a strong background in coordinating services for children and families. Currently serving as the CIS Site Coordinator at Communities In Schools of North Texas since October 2022, Rachel implements the Integrated Student Supports model to enhance student services. Previous roles include Permanency Specialist at Our Community Our Kids, where responsibilities involved permanent planning for abused and neglected children, and Human Services Technician at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, assisting CPS clients. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington and an Associate's degree from Pasco-Hernando State College. Additional experience includes tutoring in various academic subjects and providing logistical support within child welfare settings.

The mission of Communities In Schools of North Texas is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. There is no single reason why students drop out of school. Nor is dropping out of school a sudden decision. Dropping out is a result of a long process of disengagement that may begin even before a child enters school. It is a cumulative process, brought about by any number of individual, family, community or school risk factors. More than 1/3 of the students who drop out of high school fail to make the transition from 9th to 10th grade. Repeating a grade is the most significant school related risk factor associated with dropping out. CISNT currently operates school-based dropout prevention programs in Bridgeport ISD, Denton ISD, Gainesville ISD, Lake Dallas ISD, Lewisville ISD, and Northwest ISD. CISNT is a 501(c)3 non profit organization.
