Caron Walton has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Caron began their career as a Publicity Worker at Sheffield Community Enterprise Development Unit in 2000. Caron then worked as a Development Worker at The NonStop Foundation, where they secured significant funding for community arts projects. In 2002, Caron became a Senior Social Enterprise Business Adviser at Sheffield Community Enterprise Development Unit, leading a team and exceeding job creation and social enterprise start-up targets.
Caron's experience includes coordinating Sheffield's Transforming Local Infrastructure programme as a Transforming Local Infrastructure Programme Coordinator at VAS (Voluntary Action Sheffield) from 2012 to 2013. Caron also served as the Business Manager at Sheffield Cubed, where they led business development efforts and secured funding for programs supporting older people at risk from social isolation.
During their time at the University of Birmingham, Caron worked as an Associate Fellow, collaborating on policy and practice papers relating to capabilities building in third sector organizations. Caron also served as the Chair of Sheffield Social Enterprise Network, playing a key role in its growth and attracting a membership of 300 individuals.
Caron's most recent role was at The National Lottery Community Fund, where they worked as a Funding Officer from February 2018 to July 2019, and then as a Funding Manager from August 2019 to the present. Their responsibilities included managing funding applications and supporting community groups.

Caron Walton (she/her) FIOEE has a strong educational background in business and management. Caron completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Business and Management with First Class honors at Sheffield Hallam University, where they attended from 2009 to 2012. Prior to this, Caron obtained a Diploma in Management from the Chartered Management Institute, studying from 2002 to 2003.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Caron has also obtained a certification as a Fellow of the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE) in June 2013. This certification demonstrates their expertise and proficiency in enterprise and entrepreneurship.
