Karen Mackay has a wealth of experience in human resources, with a strong focus on talent management, employee engagement, labour/employee relations, and compliance. Karen has held various leadership positions in prominent organizations, including Community Living BC, BCAA, City of Coquitlam, and Quebecor World Printing. In their most recent role at Community Living BC, they served as Vice President, People and Culture, overseeing the overall people strategy of the company. Prior to that, they held the position of Executive Director, People & Culture, at the same organization. Earlier in their career, they gained valuable experience as a Director of People Services and Organization Development at Community Living BC, and a Senior Manager and Manager of People Services at BCAA. Karen also served as a Human Resources Advisor for the City of Coquitlam and a Human Resources Coordinator at Quebecor World Printing. Throughout their career, Karen has demonstrated expertise in providing HR services and advice, leading and supporting HR teams, and fostering positive employee relations.

Karen Mackay holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on Human Resource Management and Finance from Thompson Rivers University. Karen also has a Diploma of Business Administration from Capilano University. In addition to their formal education, Karen has obtained several certifications including Insights Discovery Accreditation from Insights in April 2018, Prosci Change Management Certification from Prosci in January 2018, and the Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation from CPHR BC & Yukon in April 2004.
