About the Role:

The Teacher Assistant (“TA”) is an integral member of Community Reach Center’s Day Treatment (“Division”) Division. The TA provides educational and therapeutic support to classroom teachers, therapists, and serving the needs of children and adolescents ages 5 to 18. The TA provides interventions in a manner that fosters and supports positive educational and therapeutic outcomes. Additionally, the TA will have other duties and responsibilities as determined from time to time by the Program Manager.

Essential Functions: 

  • Provides a safe, positive, and supportive environment for children who struggle with behavioral, social-emotional, and educational issues.
  • Provides educational support which includes but is not limited to: working one-on-one and in groups with students academically, maintaining student records/files, monitoring student behavior and academic progress (report cards and monthlies), performs classroom duties according to teacher’s direction.
  • Implements program behavior management policy and documents/tracks progress in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provides behavior and crisis management support within and outside of the classroom setting.
  • Provides behavior management and emotional regulations support by working with students one-on-one or in groups within the milieu setting.
  • Provides program milieu coverage and support as assigned.
  • Accepts direction from Program Manager and Special Education Director in respect to Program duties.
  • Provides care to consumers in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment.
  • Documents intervention and program activity according to Community Reach Center policies and procedures.
  • Maintains accurate and timely clinical records consistent with Center standards.
  • Consults with other therapists and related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate.
  • Maintains confidentiality of consumer records in accordance with Center policies/procedures and State and Federal Regulations.
  • Attends and participates in-services education and training opportunities, meetings, supervisory sessions, and special events.
  • Attends and participates in team meetings.
  • Meets required timelines of assigned duties.
  • Meets attendance and punctuality requirements.
  • Conducts agency business and engages both internal and external customers in a professional, collaborative manner that reinforces person centered practices.
  • Utilizes CPI physical management techniques with consumers to ensure physical safety of individuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position and program descriptions, as well as those reflective of their experience, education, and ability

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
  • Training in CPI and CPR/ First Aid is required and provided upon employment
  • Direct experience with the population specific to the day treatment program (i.e. age range, disability) preferred.
  • Communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

Schedule: 

Classes are Monday - Friday 7:45 am to 3:45 pm. Shifts will vary based on need. 

Salary Information: 

Pay Range: $24.04-$28.00 per hour

Eligible for $250/month Bilingual Stipend
