Joe Perkins has extensive work experience in the field of economics and regulation. Joe'smost recent role was at Compass Lexecon, where they served as the Head of Research and Senior Vice President. Joe specialized in economic regulation and competition, particularly in digital, energy, and other utilities sectors. Joe was responsible for leading a research team and developing expertise in areas such as data science, econometrics, and advanced economic theory.

Prior to their position at Compass Lexecon, Joe worked at Queens' College, Cambridge as a Bye-Fellow in Economics. Joe joined the college in 2022.

Before that, Joe held the position of Chief Economist at Ofgem. Joe was a member of the Senior Leadership Team and the advisor to the Board. In this role, they led a cross-disciplinary team of analysts, contributed to the development of strategies towards achieving net zero in the energy sector, and headed the analytical profession of Ofgem.

Joe also worked at the UK National Audit Office as the Director of Regulation, Consumers, and Competition. Joe led a wide-ranging team focusing on financial and economic regulators and public markets. Joe'sresponsibilities included developing and implementing strategies to improve regulation and increase competition in the UK. Additionally, they provided thought leadership on regulatory, consumer protection, and competition issues.

Prior to that, Joe worked as an Audit Manager and Economist at the UK National Audit Office, where they managed value for money work on the Department for International Development and provided economics advice across the organization.

Joe started their career as a College Lecturer in Economics at the University of Oxford, teaching microeconomics, macroeconomics, and game theory at St Catherine's College and Magdalen College. Joe also served as a lecturer on public finance and budgeting at Blavatnik School of Government.

Joe began their professional journey as an Economist at HM Treasury, working for the Independent Public Service Pensions Commission and analyzing proposed changes to pensions. Joe played a significant role in shaping the UK's public pension landscape.

Joe has also held positions at All Souls College, University of Oxford, and HM Treasury, where they conducted research and analysis on various economic matters, including UK membership of the euro and monetary and fiscal policy frameworks.

Overall, Joe Perkins has a wealth of experience in economic regulation, competition, and public sector economics, holding several leadership roles throughout their career.

Joe Perkins attended Nailsea School from 1990 to 1997. Joe then went on to the University of Oxford, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from 1997 to 2000. Following that, Joe enrolled at the University of Cambridge from 2000 to 2001 to obtain a Master of Philosophy degree in Philosophy. Lastly, they attended the University of Oxford again from 2003 to 2005, where they completed a Master of Philosophy degree in Economics.
