Sean Harrap

Sean Harrap has a diverse range of work experience in the software development field. Sean started their career as a Programmer at the University of Laval & Queen's University, where they led the design and development of an educational game prototype. Sean then worked as an Applications Specialist at the City of Kingston, where they ported VBA ArcMap plugins to C# and developed new plugins for ArcMap and ArcCatalog.

Sean also worked as an Assistant Baker at Fred's Bread before transitioning back to the software development field. Sean joined Tophatter as a Software Developer, primarily focusing on backend development using Ruby on Rails and React. Sean led the development and maintenance of an automated dropshipping integration using zinc.io.

At Kira Systems, Sean served as a Senior Software Developer, specializing in backend development. Sean collaborated with infrastructure and security teams to find solutions for a resumable upload feature, implementing a Kubernetes + Docker proof-of-concept. Sean also added Prometheus metrics and Grafana graphs to several features and the public API.

Sean's previous experience includes roles at PhoneWagon, where they worked as a Software Developer and developed an extensible phone system builder and a private messaging system, and at the University of Waterloo, where they held various positions as an Instructional Support Assistant, Instructional Apprentice, and Teaching Assistant, providing support for computer science courses, conducting tutorials, and developing course materials.

Currently, Sean is working as a Software Developer at Composer. Overall, they have shown expertise in various programming languages, tools, and technologies, with a strong focus on backend development.

Sean Harrap completed their high school education at Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute from the years 2005 to 2009, earning a High School Diploma. Following this, from 2009 to 2018, they attended the University of Waterloo, where they obtained a Bachelor of Computer Science degree with a specialization in Computer Science.
