Holly Shoemaker has a diverse work experience in the social work field. Holly is currently working as a Community Development Programmer at Conestoga College since December 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Social Worker & Attendance Counsellor at the Thames Valley District School Board from September 2018 to December 2021. Holly also has experience as a Family Service Worker at Family and Children's Services of Guelph and Wellington County from July 2018 to August 2018, and from August 2016 to September 2017. Holly served as an MSW Placement Student at Vanier Children's Mental Wellness from September 2017 to May 2018. Holly Shoemaker also worked as a Child Protection Worker-Intake at the Children's Aid Society of Hamilton from December 2015 to August 2016, and as a Crisis Counsellor at Optimism Place Women's Shelter and Support Services from September 2015 to December 2015. Holly gained experience as a BSW Placement Student at the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre from September 2014 to June 2015.

Holly Shoemaker holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, which they obtained from 2017 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree at Renison University College from 2014 to 2015. In addition to their social work education, Holly also pursued a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree at Queen's University from 2012 to 2013. Their undergraduate studies were focused on Psychology, earning their a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Waterloo between 2008 and 2012. Holly Shoemaker has also obtained the designation of a Registered Social Worker (RSW) from the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in August 2018.
