Makela Rodgers

Makela Rodgers is a dedicated education professional currently serving as a Special Education Math Teacher at Coney Island Prep and a Corps Member with Teach For America. With experience as a Summer School Teacher at Brooklyn Laboratory Charter School, Makela has also held leadership roles including Association President and Director of Community Outreach at USC Residential Housing Association. Previous experience includes a Fundraising Intern position at Enterprise Community Partners, a Social Media & Marketing Strategist at Nalaverse, and a Remote Executive Assistant at Apprentice. Notably, an internship with Narrative Nation Inc. involved contributing to the IRTH App, which addresses racial bias in maternity care for Black women and birthing people of color. Academically accomplished, Makela is pursuing a Master of Education in Adolescent Special Education at Hunter College, following two master's degrees from the University of Southern California in Public Administration and a dual degree in Public Policy and Non-Governmental Organizations & Social Change.
