Marley A.

Marley A. has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. They began their career as a Harvard-AMGEN Scholar at The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering, where they studied swarm robotics. During this time, they focused on gradient-following, an efficient method of autonomous routing.

Marley then worked as an Assistant Systems Administrator at Bard College, where they were responsible for configuring, monitoring, and upgrading software and hardware for Unix/Windows systems.

They later joined hackNY.org as a hackNY Fellow and, in 2017, became a Fellowship Director for the organization. As a Fellow, Marley was paired with startup companies in NYC and participated in weekly talks, lectures, and community events aimed at exposing students to the technology startup community.

Marley then transitioned to roles in the tech industry, starting as a Data Engineering Intern at Celmatix. Here, they completed two full-stack projects focused on data transfer and visualization, gaining proficiency in Github workflow best practices and learning Ruby, React, Python, Flask, Javascript (specifically D3), and React.

Next, Marley joined Eigen Technologies as a Solutions Engineer. In this role, they extended the capabilities of the core machine learning pipeline to meet client-specific needs, researched and tested algorithms for future product use, and maintained and updated the product for a major client.

They then joined Mount Sinai Health System as a Full-stack Engineer - Consumer Digital Innovations. Here, Marley tested and developed features for the Consumer Digital Portal, improving testability for a medical messaging app used by thousands of customers daily. They added end-to-end Puppeteer JS frontend tests of happy-path and edge-case scenario flows.

Marley continued their career as a Frontend Engineer at Nextbite, where they built and maintained React components to address usability and business needs for a client base of 300+ restaurants. They implemented attention-grabbing banners, full-screen notifications for incoming orders, and a settings modal for preferred style.

Marley's most recent position was as a Frontend Engineer at zackalford.com, where they redesigned a professional musician website from scratch. They combined specific client needs and requests with the latest design trends to deliver a modern, responsive design using React, TailwindCSS, and npm packages.

They are currently employed as a Frontend Engineer at CONROO, starting in 2023. No end date is provided for this role.
