Lona Stoll has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various sectors. Lona began their career in the United States Department of Defense as a Plans Officer in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense, Policy. Lona then moved to the United States Department of State, where they worked as a Foreign Affairs Officer, leading strategic planning for the Office of the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization (S/CRS) Planning Office. In 2009, Lona joined the United States Department of Agriculture as a Senior Program Manager in the Office of the Secretary and later became the Chief of Staff for the Foreign Agricultural Service.

Lona further expanded their expertise in international development by joining the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Lona held several positions, including Deputy Coordinator for Feed the Future, Senior Advisor to the Administrator, Director of the Center for Global Solutions in the U.S. Global Development Lab, and Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director (Acting) of the U.S. Global Development Lab. Lona'swork at USAID involved leading the development and launch of the U.S. Global Development Lab, coordinating the implementation of the Feed the Future initiative, and supporting game-changing solutions to development challenges.

In 2020, Lona took on roles outside of government agencies, serving as a consultant for The Rockefeller Foundation and as Vice President of Impact and Innovation, Chief Innovation Officer at CARE. Lona focused on driving innovation, scale, market-based approaches, digital inclusion, and global advocacy, among other responsibilities.

In 2022, Lona became a Board Member for RISE (Reimagining Industry to Support Equality), an initiative that aims to advance gender equality in the garment, footwear, and home textiles supply chains.
