Pantex Site Manager at Consolidated Nuclear Security

Colby Yeary is the COO for Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC. CNS is responsible for the management and operation of the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas, and the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In this role, he oversees more than 1,200 engineers, scientists, and contracted staff.

This multi-disciplined organization ensures availability of mission critical systems and equipment, continued safe nuclear production and site operations through development and management of the authorization basis, executable and compliant production procedures, design of special tooling, construction and maintenance of weapon testers, and design authority for CNS. Responsibilities also include design engineering services for site-wide improvement projects, the design authority role for all capital projects, including the $6.5 billion Uranium Processing Facility, and management of the interface to the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board. Additionally, Mission Engineering encompasses the CNS Development organization, with responsibility for the Pantex and Y-12 research and development portfolio and special production support.

Previously, Yeary was the deputy manager for Mission Engineering, where he provided leadership to both sites and served as the interface in a number of key areas. Before joining Mission Engineering, Colby provided exemplary leadership as the senior director of Stockpile Programs within Program Integration. He was responsible for the successful execution of weapons development and sustainment activities in accordance with the scope, schedule, quality, and cost expectations. Colby has worked at Pantex for more than 15 years and has experience in Program Management, Project Management, Operations, and Weapons Engineering organizations. He has had management responsibilities at both Pantex and Y-12 since the start of the CNS contract.

Prior to joining Pantex, Colby served in a variety of engineering and project management capacities with Chevron USA Incorporated. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Nebraska and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University.
