Jon Petralanda Urien has a diverse work experience spanning various companies and roles. Starting in 2006 at Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, they worked as a Design and Development Engineer and later as a Student Tutor. In 2012, they joined SAI Global as a Postgraduate Researcher, focusing on sustainability strategies. Jon then moved to Peterborough City Council, where they served as a Sustainable Strategy/Smart City Analyst and Project Manager, working on sustainability aspects and Smart Cities projects. In 2016, Jon took on the role of Data Analyst Consultant at the United Nations Development Programme, managing the "Environmental Justice in Chile" project. Jon later joined IDOM as a Data Project Manager and Analyst, working on consultancy projects related to Digital Transformation. Currently, Jon is employed at CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles), where they started as a Big Data Engineer, responsible for designing and maintaining the Big Data Analytics platform. Jon then became a Digital R&D Project Manager, coordinating and leading research projects related to digitalization and complex electronic systems in railway vehicles. Currently, Jon serves as the Head of Data & Digital Platform, overseeing the development and evolution of CAF's Digital Platform and leading internal projects related to data.

Jon Petralanda Urien earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications from Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea in 2008. Jon then pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Engineering/Industrial Management from the same university, which they completed in 2011. In 2012, Jon obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Business Management (Environment) from Cranfield University. Jon later pursued further education and obtained a Master's degree in Business Intelligence and Big Data from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in 2018. Jon also holds certifications such as the PRINCE2 Foundation and PRINCE2 Practitioner certificates in Project Management from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Additionally, they have attained the EGA (Euskararen Gaitasun Agiria - C1) credential from Eusko Jaurlaritza - Gobierno Vasco. Jon's proficiency in the English language is demonstrated by their achievement of an IELTS score of 7.5, equivalent to the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE).
