Hengyi Hu, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience, primarily in the field of data analysis and program management. Most recently, they served as the Chief Data Analytics Officer at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission since 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Program Analyst at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, focusing on data analysis and procurement reporting systems from 2019 to 2023. They also served as a Performance and Strategic Planning Analyst at the National Science Foundation, where they managed projects and conducted in-depth analyses from 2013 to 2019. Additionally, they worked as a Management and Program Analyst at the U.S. Department of Justice, managing reports and acting as a liaison to the FTC. Earlier in their career, they held positions as a Sr. Management Consultant at Kadix Systems and a Sr. Consultant at IBM.

Hengyi Hu, Ph.D. holds a Ph.D. in Information Technology from George Mason University, which was earned from 2012 to 2021. Prior to that, Dr. Hu obtained a Master of Science degree in Applied Information Technology from the same institution, between 2009 and 2011. For undergraduate studies, Dr. Hu attended Penn State University, where they graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences and Technology from 2002 to 2006.

In addition to their academic degrees, Dr. Hu has also received several certifications. These include a Key Executive Leadership Certificate from American University, obtained in September 2020; a Contracting Officer's Representative (FAC-COR II) certification from the Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI) obtained in May 2017; a Strategy and Performance Management Certificate from Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies obtained in May 2017; a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute obtained in January 2008; and a Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) certification from the Lean Six Sigma Institute obtained in January 2007.
