Joanna Matheson is a Toxicologist and Program Manager specializing in Nanotechnology at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission since 2003. Joanna's work primarily involves conducting risk assessments related to toxic exposure from consumer products with a focus on vulnerable populations. Additionally, Joanna serves as a liaison to various federal groups addressing issues such as asthma and environmental health risks to children. Prior to this role, Joanna worked as a Staff Fellow at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) from 1996 to 2003, where studies centered on immune and inflammatory mediators in occupational diseases, specifically investigating the mechanisms of asthma induced by isocyanates. Joanna earned a Ph.D. in Toxicology from New York University between 1991 and 1996.
