Kamal Thakarsey has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of marketing. Kamal started their career at Google as an Adwords Contractor, where they optimized ads and reviewed customer ads based on editorial and product policies. Kamal then worked as a SEM Campaign Manager at 24/7 Real Media, where they built and managed search engine marketing campaigns for various clients.
After that, Kamal joined Cisco Systems as an Online Marketing Manager, where they were responsible for planning and executing worldwide Search Engine Marketing strategy for Webex products. Kamal managed SEM strategy, landing page testing, keyword management, ad copy testing, budget management, forecasting, and reporting analysis.
Kamal then joined Marin Software as a Director of Marketing, where they drove the online marketing strategy and execution for lead generation and customer acquisition. Kamal also collaborated closely with the GM of the mid-market product to drive product strategy, messaging, sales alignment, and pricing strategy. Kamal contributed to marketing operations functions including reporting, lead scoring, database segmentation, and data clean-up.
Later, Kamal held multiple roles at PagerDuty, starting as a Director of Marketing and eventually becoming the Vice President of Demand Generation. Kamal also served as the Vice President of Business Operations and Senior Director of Marketing during their time at PagerDuty.
Kamal continued their career as the Vice President of Growth & Demand Generation at Algolia and then as the Vice President of Demand Generation at Uptake. Most recently, Kamal worked as the VP of Employer Marketing at Handshake.
Kamal Thakarsey's most recent position is the VP of Marketing at Contra, a position they assumed in 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Marketing Consultant/Advisor since 2013. Throughout their career, Kamal has demonstrated their expertise in marketing strategy, demand generation, growth, and online marketing.
Kamal Thakarsey obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Southern California, completing the program between 2001 and 2004.
