Brittany La

Brittany La has a diverse work experience in the field of intellectual property, patent law, and chemical research. Currently, they are serving as the Assistant General Counsel for Intellectual Property at ContraFect Corp. Brittany joined the company in May 2021 and continues to hold this position. Previously, Brittany worked at Evonik Corporation as a Senior Patent Counsel from August 2015 to April 2021. Brittany'sresponsibilities included preparing, prosecuting, and managing patent applications in various areas, such as biodegradable polymers, medical devices, and specialty inorganics. Prior to that, they worked at HOXIE & ASSOCIATES, LLC (formerly Hoxie & Tso LLP) as an Associate from March 2005 to August 2015. During their tenure, they drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical arts. Brittany also gained experience at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where they worked as an Associate Research Scientist from March 2000 to July 2003. Brittany'srole involved researching and developing chemical processes for the preparation of pharmaceutical compounds, collaborating with chemical engineers, and addressing regulatory issues. Before that, they worked as a Chemist at Pharm-eco Laboratories (now a Johnson Mathey Company) from 1998 to 2000, focusing on researching and developing chemical processes for HIV and cancer drug products. Brittany's early career began as a Research Assistant at Wesleyan University from June 1996 to May 1998, where they investigated RNA-protein interactions and performed various molecular biology techniques.
