Peter Ondruska has extensive experience in the field of computer vision and artificial intelligence. Peter is currently the Co-founder and CTO of Coram AI, where they are involved in building new technologies in computer vision and AI. Peter is responsible for hiring engineers and researchers for the company.
Prior to this, Peter worked at Woven by Toyota as the Head of Research, where they continued their position after the acquisition. Their role involved integrating the Lyft Level 5 team and technology into Toyota Woven Planet.
Before joining Woven by Toyota, Peter worked at Lyft, where they held multiple roles. Initially, they served as the Head of Research and was the founder and manager of the Level 5 research team. Their team invented and developed Lyft's self-driving ML planning and simulation technology. Peter later took on the role of Director of Engineering, where they led the integration of Blue Vision Labs into Lyft Level 5 and launched the Fleet Intelligence program focused on crowd-sourcing driving data using Lyft's rideshare network.
Peter has also founded and led a deep tech startup called Blue Vision Labs, which developed the first public city-scale visual SLAM for large-scale Shared Augmented Reality and Robotics. The company was acquired by Lyft to enhance their ridesharing and Level 5 self-driving car efforts.
Earlier in their career, Peter worked as a Research Intern at MetaMind, where they contributed to a novel end-to-end recurrent neural network architecture for natural text understanding. Their work resulted in a publication presented at NIPS 2015.
Peter also worked as a Research Intern at Microsoft, where they developed a real-time volumetric dense 3D SLAM system for mobile phones. Their work received significant media coverage and was presented at ISMAR 2015 and SIGGRAPH 2015 Asia.
Peter started their career as a Software Engineering Intern at both Google and Facebook. At Google, they developed a computer vision algorithm for creating PDFs of documents from user-taken pictures. At Facebook, they worked on the "Facebook Timeline" and developed a new in-house declarative programming language and its compiler for data migration purposes.
