Bruce designs and manages a variety of education, recreation, municipal, and office project types. He manages task oriented projects for municipal and educational institutions and contributes to the design of many other projects as well. Bruce has been instrumental in leading the development of some of Cordogan, Clark & Associates' most notable projects, including the new 132,000 S.F. Waubonsee Community College Aurora Campus; the 228,000 S.F. Vaughan Athletic Center; the pool expansion at the Illinois Valley YMCA in Peru, IL; the Phillips Park Visitor Center; the Rush-Copley Heart Institute; the Dr. Belani Ogden Professional Building; and the remodeling and additions to East Aurora School District's Bardwell Elementary and Simmons Middle Schools. He has also collaborated on the development of Master Plans for both Waubonsee Community College and Aurora University.
Bruce produces freehand drawings and illustrations that capture design goals. He provides comprehensive building evaluations and LEED Design analysis for a variety of projects. With the assistance from key staff, Bruce’s coordinates projects through site analysis and initial design to construction documents and administration. Bruce uses his exceptional drawing skills, background in hands-on construction, and attention to a client’s needs to provide balanced solutions that exceed expectations.
Bruce is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Chicago. Bruce is a registered architect, licensed in Illinois, and is a LEED Accredited Professional. His background includes working as a carpenter apprentice where he learned the craft of building and the hard work needed to construct a design idea. He served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps., which contributed to his leadership and organizational skills. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1993, he worked for a large Chicago corporate architecture firm and later in Tucson, Arizona, with a firm focused on the Health Care and Hospitality markets.
